About

Helen Minns is an artist working in the disciplines of fine art printmaking, illustration and design. She teaches art and design to young adults and works from her studio in South East London, England

'I would describe my approach as a conversation between line, texture, colour and shape. These elements intuitively navigate towards a reduced aesthetic.

The subject of my illustration work is often the natural world. I use a combination of hand and digital drawing, mark-making, pattern and collage techniques that are eventually translated into designs for print. I use natural materials such as unbleached linen, fine textured paper and bone china in my products. I am interested in the haptic relationship between materials and print, how they sit on the surface or sink in and how they affect a surface quality.'
